How To Replace Dodge Car Key Battery

Most modern Dodge vehicles use a key fob which is the remote alternative to traditional car keys. Step One

Look at the back of your key fob. You should see a lever that you’ll need to slide in order to release its emergency key. Do this now and after removing your emergency key put it aside in a safe spot where you won’t lose it.

Find an object which is flat sided. Flathead screwdrivers are highly recommended.

Step Three

Look at the fob’s bottom, and you should see a slot which is blank. This is the location where you must insert the screwdriver so you can gently pry open the 2 halves.

Step Four

Separate the 2 halves to see the battery and internal electronics. Gently apply your screwdriver again to slide its battery from the housing. Make note of how it is positioned so you’ll correctly install the replacement battery. In case you forget, just remember to align the 2 “+” signs.

Step Five

Get a new replacement battery, which should be a model CR2032 that can be purchased in most auto parts stores. Slide it inside the slot where the previous battery was located.

Step Six

Take your key fobs other portion and click the 2 parts back together, and remember to return your emergency key. That’s it!
